South Australia Announces Final Allocation for 2025-26 Skilled & Business Migration Programs

The South Australian government has received 2,250 nomination allocations for the 2025-26 program year under its Skilled & Business Migration streams, and new Registrations of Interest (ROIs) are now open.

What we know

  • The Australian Government has provided South Australia with 2,250 nomination places (interim allocations) for the 2025-26 year, with 1,350 nomination places for Subclass 190 and 900 nomination places for Subclass 491.

  • At this stage, new ROIs are finally open. Onshore applicants can now submit their ROIs for the new program year while offshore applicants are not required to submit an ROI.

  • South Australia is prioritising candidates in Building and Construction, Defence, Education, Engineering, Health, and Manufacturing in the 2025-26 program year. Highly-ranked candidates in non-priority sectors may also be considered for nomination.

  • For offshore applicants, South Australia will consider EOIs based on the applicants' English language, work experience, skills and qualifications level, and EOI points respectively, except for construction trade occupations, where they will consider the applicants' work experience first before English language proficiency.

What you should do if you’re considering South Australia

  • If you already submitted an ROI in 2024-25: Make sure your details are current, your skills assessment is valid, and you remain eligible under South Australia’s criteria.

  • If you are preparing to apply for a new ROI: Prepare a copy of your current visa grant letter from DHA, your employment reference letter and latest CV.

  • If you are residing offshore: Ensure your occupation is included in the South Australia Skilled Occupation List with sufficient English language, work experience, qualification and EOI points if your occupation is not in the priority sector.
  • Consider your work history in South Australia: For many states, and particularly for South Australia, being already contributing to the state economy improves your chances—so if you have work or job offer in SA it’s beneficial.

Final thoughts

For skilled migrants eyeing state nomination via South Australia, this announcement of full allocations is a positive indicator that the program is finally progressing. Applicants should build and update their application profile, and ensure they meet the requirements of each nomination pathway.
